God’s Will

While I wait You are not waiting.  You are working in me preparing me for readiness in battle and great things through You.  You are steadfast in Your plans.  You are not surprised at the outcome of those plans.  Your plans are not of this world.  I may not understand those plans or Your ways but I know there is a reason and a purpose.

How can I be so sure? For starters, I was born 3 weeks late to a first time mom who was in labor 3 days before the doctors realized she couldn’t have me.  You see, she was hit by a car at 3 years old (God loves 3’s) permanently crushing her pelvic bones rendering them useless for childbirth.  Therefore, as labor increased and I moved through the birth canal I became trapped and was without oxygen while they performed an emergency Cesarean (C-section).  Once delivered I had Bell’s palsy and seizures that lasted for two weeks.  The doctors told my mom I would probably never walk or talk, or be able to learn.  God, however, had other plans for me!  I did walk, I did talk, and I did learn. I graduated with honors from high school and went to the University of Kentucky to earn a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Biology.

There’s no telling God what He can’t do.  God had a plan when my mother was hit by a car.  He wanted to show the world that He could prove doctors wrong and He could do it through a partially handicapped girl.  I won’t say I didn’t have struggles, I did! Learning to do things with that handicap was difficult at times because I had to figure out how to do things differently than others but God placed me in a family that encouraged me and most often forgot that I had a handicap.  He knew I would be strong willed and He used my will and determination to Glorify Himself!
