Being a God pleaser is what every christian should strive to be. It is most certainly easier than living life trying to please everyone instead of God. Trying to please everyone without pleasing anyone makes for a stressful existence. Constantly working to make everyone around us happy has replaced working for God as His good and faithful servant.
I have lived most of my life trying to make EVERYONE happy and pleased with me without focusing on making God pleased with me for being on Mission for Him. Somehow it never clicked with me that when I strive to do His work, doing good and being good to others follows suit. When I stay in His word, live for Him, and work for Him; I’m doing what He asks of me! These are the three most important things I can do as a Bible believing follower of Christ!
You’re probably thinking I have a daily routine and I just don’t know how I could possibly fit more into my days or focus on one more thing? It’s simple: WITH GOD!!! God is how Christians accomplish anything! It’s hard to explain how God multiplies the things that He places His hands on. In church we often call this God math, because we can’t explain how things become more with God!
3 Important Steps for being a God pleaser
1. Stay in the Word: Reading the Bible is what we do to remain on fire for Christ and to stand strong against the enemy. The devil works daily to cause trauma and strife in our lives and will stop at nothing to keep us away from the Word. He knows if we are in the Word, we are prepared for the battle with him. Rest assured that he also knows the Word and he will try to twist it and use it against us. The devil tried to turn the Word on Jesus while He was being tempted in the wilderness in Matthew 4:11. Jesus was the Ultimate at being a God pleaser.
2. Live For Him: Christ wants us to live with Him at the forefront of our lives. To do that, He must be the Lord of our life; He must be our Master. We have to let go and let God have control of the reins. This means we can’t continue to give it to Him and as soon as, He has it, snatch it back again. We have to pray and release it all to Him, leaving all the pain, anguish, and anxiety at the foot of the cross at Jesus’ feet.
3. Work for Him: Working for Him means we must be the hands and feet of Christ while we’re on this earth. The simplest description is to ask what Jesus would do in a scenario and then do it! It’s not enough to ask and not work. We learn in the book of James that faith without works is dead. I don’t want to be thought of as the living dead because I haven’t worked as God would have me to do; how about you?
I firmly believe that if we learn of His greatness and imitate His love and kindness; then living and working for Him just flow freely from us. Becoming more like Christ, sanctification, is the life goal of every Christian.
