My Thankfulness is Ever Present

As my family and I celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas I realized that my thankfulness is ever present this year. Webster’s dictionary defines thankful as being conscious of the benefit received. Since last year was all but stolen from the world as a whole I’m definitely thankful.  I am very grateful for the camaraderie and food we had to eat. The time spent with friends and family is wonderful.  It’s great to relax and enjoy those we love!  I’m as guilty as the next person for not expressing my thankfulness but my reflections this year, in this season, opened my eyes to the beauty of true thankfulness.

My thankfulness is ever present because it isn’t just in the obvious.  It’s deeper; it resides in the unseen, with the MOST HIGH!  I speak of a life-altering, God given, Christ centered, thankfulness that can only be achieved when you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  A mind shift occurs that lets you feel thankful daily. It isn’t always expressed in words but it’s always in the heart and hopefully shown through actions.

you too can be thankful

When you allow Jesus to be Lord of your life, to reside in your heart; He will provide you with peace.  That peace makes you thankful for everything not just the superficial, spectacular, amazing things you have or experience!  You begin to feel thankful even in the scary, turbulent, stressful, and sad times.  Everyday life can easily and most certainly will bring you down and drag you through the muck and the mire.  The enemy is prowling like a raging lion ready to pounce on any circumstance that he feels could hinder the work of Christ and prevent His return. The devil is constantly waging war against us trying with all his might to change the outcome of what he knows the future holds for him.

And even through this spiritual warfare and worldly drama we can have peace and thankfulness. That’s the beauty of being a Christian, we know Who’s we are and Who holds our future! God’s peace circles us and holds us in His loving embrace.  He reassures His children through His WORD that we will win the war!  His sovereignty proves we will be victorious and we don’t need to live in bondage to the lies of the devil creating an ungrateful heart.

Why I’m Thankful

My thankfulness is ever present because I have a God that loves me and provided me salvation through His wonderful Son!  Without God, I wouldn’t have the peace that leads to thankfulness.  Being grateful is a mindset and we should always express that to God! When He changes our hearts our spirit is full of ‘Thanksgiving” just waiting to be let out to others! This has been a season of memories be it near or far.
